Sips & Snacks Holiday Party 2013

Let’s party!  Well, let’s talk about our holiday party actually.

But it is Friday and well, it’s been a long week.  And I kinda wish that we were getting to do our holiday party again this weekend.  But since we’re not, we’ll just talk about it instead.  Cool?

{Side note – please ignore the weird coloring / grainy photos.  Taking pictures at night with terrible lighting was challenging to say the least.  It looked a lot prettier in person!  Sigh.}

So, last weekend we hosted what will hopefully be our first annual holiday party! We’ve tried to have a Christmas party in the past but it never really worked out for one reason or another.  So to say I was excited was a wee bit of an understatement.

I had a ton of ideas floating around in my head (and still do), but since we had the party just shortly after Thanksgiving we kept things on the easy side. Sips and snacks only. It’s just fun saying that, huh?

Here’s what was on the menu:

Sips

– assorted beer and wine
pomegranate cranberry sangria
– water (obviously!)
– hot chocolate bar

Snacks

beer bread
– cranberry brie bites
gingerbread caramel corn
– chocolate chip cookie dough truffles
– gingerbread truffles
chocolate sugar cookies
chocolate cream cheese cookies with sea salt
– cranberry bliss bars
caramel latte thumbprint cookies

I was really happy with how everything turned out.

I’ve always wanted to do a hot chocolate bar and finally got my wish.  It ended up being a huge hit (complete with homemade marshmallows, cookie straws and Baileys), so I have a feeling this will be happening again.

For decorations, I kept things simple – just a few signs and place cards, and then some fake snow to Christmas it all up.  Easy but it tied it all together wonderfully!  Our holiday decorations were already up, so that definitely helped with the festive mood as well.

And two last photos.  One of Emma, well just because.  And two, please tell me you know what the moose mug is from???

I’ll give you a hint – it’s from the best Christmas movie ever and if you’ve never seen it I’m not sure we can be friends : )
