Frozen Strawberry Mango Margaritas

We rarely go out to eat these days and when we do we choose the restaurant wisely.  We have learned our lesson after making some not-so-hot choices that have left us sorely disappointed.  We practically never go out for Mexican food.  The homemade versions of many of our favorites, like enchiladas and tacos, just taste so much better than their greasy counterparts that are often served at restaurants.  I don’t miss going out for it, but I always did enjoy ordering a frozen margarita along with my meal.

Frozen Strawberry Mango Margaritas

While making guacamole this past weekend, I decided I had to have a margarita to go with our chips and dip. A quick trip to the liquor store and we were in business. My husband likes his margaritas on the rocks while I prefer them frozen. However since I was making them, guess who won?

These margaritas are not too sweet, yet the strawberry and mango flavors are still prominent. For us, the alcohol was also just right, not too strong but you could definitely taste the tequila. Of course, feel free to play with the amount of each ingredient to find that balance for your own personal taste.

We enjoyed these outside as we finally had a weekend with temperatures below 100 degrees. I’m so ready for fall. Until then I’ll just have to make do and beat the heat with some more frozen margaritas.

Seriously – my dog thinks she’s a person. Probably has something to do with the fact that we treat her like one.

Frozen Strawberry Mango Margaritas

Recipe for frozen strawberry mango margaritas. Sweet but not too sweet! With frozen mango, strawberries and lime juice!

  • 1 cup frozen mango chunks
  • 1 cup frozen unsweetened strawberries
  • 3 ounces tequila
  • 1 ½ ounces orange liqueur
  • ⅓ cup freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • sugar or salt to rim the glasses, optional
  • lime wedges for garnish, optional


  1. Add the mango, strawberries, tequila, orange liqueur, lime juice and sugar to a blender. Blend until smooth. Add in the ice cubes and blend again until slushy.
  2. Add the extra sugar or salt to a shallow dish. Use the lime wedges to moisten the rims of the glasses and then coat the rim in the sugar or salt. Pour the mixture into the prepared glasses and serve immediately.
